Gun Metal Grey
by Mick Donnellan
Running time approximately 65 minutes
Gun Metal Grey is a dark comedy set in Mayo centering around Chris and Paddy and their doomed drinking habits. They spend all their time playing cards and telling stories in the pub-cum-funeral home, owned
by Seamus Quinn. Paddy has decided to move to England after a bad break-up with his girlfriend, Jess O'Malley, and the apparent lack of a sober future
in Mayo.
Meanwhile there is a general air of relief about the town at the death of Joe Macken, regarded
as a chancer at best. Martin O'Hare and Tom Steed are the two locals charged with digging the grave. Never too reliable, and always prone to exaggerate the bad weather, Steed and O'Hare tend to spend more time with pints in their hands than shovels.
Then - an arranged marriage involving Paddy's ex-girlfriend Jess and
an 85 year old geriatric sends wild talk around the town. The day of Macken's funeral draws ever near
and bizarre events unfold...
